I once tried to live my best life without God, only to realize that it was impossible. Now, I am an advocate for faith, using my voice, creativity, and love for Jesus Christ to create a meaningful life and conversations with people of faith and those who need it.

MY STORY

I had this radical idea: if I'm going to call myself a Christian, I should have read the entire Bible at least once. I did, and I can't stop. Not only I do I find myself reading it every day, but I've inspired others to join me, and now we're a community of Bible believers shaping our lives based on God's word. 2 years ago I asked a friend to read the Bible with me to hold me accountable. Now we’ve become a community of Bible readers. As I prepare for our 3rd year of reading the Bible I feel more than ever that I’m on assignment. Protect your spirit

The other night my husband called me to watch a video. It was the same video my friend sent me of the live footage of the mass shooting in Buffalo. I never looked at it.

Something was telling me to protect my spirit. I had enough images of people who hate my people and me just because of our skin color or that we are different from them. I heard enough. I've seen enough. And I refuse to ingest it just for the sake of knowledge.

Sometimes you have to ask yourself, is it necessary to watch, will you be better or worse for it? Sometimes you have to protect your spirit. We often say words matter, but images do too.

So here's a friendly reminder to protect your spirit from the ugly of this world. Be informed but not engrossed with someone else's hate.

We are not battling with flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. So prayer warriors, let us stay focused.

Oh yeah, Sunday vibes this past Sunday was lit. My sista friend @nikculzanddimez invited me out to an event hosted by @callmedelsy that spoke about the importance of community, how to build it, and why it is so important. Afterwards we ate at @pizzalovesemily for more conversation about community and of course God. Being around that energy was simply amazing and reminded me what having a strong community can do for you. So inspired!

Here’s a word of encouragement on our adventure to reading the Bible for 30 minutes a day for 30 days. The greatest gift you can give yourself is opening up the Bible and reading it for yourself. It will be life changing. I’ve heard this questioned asked a dozen times. This is by far the best answer I heard. @yellopain blessed me with this one, I can relate, when I leaned into seeking God first, it changed everything.

Keep reading your Bible. Did you miss a day like I did? Okay, cool let’s just pick up from where we started. Sometimes life happens but the whole point I learning to do life with God.

Today I didn’t get to my Bible until right before bed. And I was almost discouraged because at that point I was tired and I was not in the mood to get the notebook and highlighters out. I didn’t want to look up words or write in my journal. But I still wanted do 30 minutes.

So I opened up my Bible and asked God to give me something. I opened it up to Ecclesiastes 12th chapter. It read like poetry that felt soothing to me. But it also, read like words of wisdom and gave me comfort with something I was battling with lately.

I read it over and over and meditated on how God will never leave you in the dark when you seek Him with all of your heart.

I love my experience today with the RTB 30/30, because it is a reminder that reading the Bible does not have to be all about getting info. Sometimes it is a form of self care.

It is a new month and a new book we will read together. This April we will read ESTHER the one book that didn’t mention God. This should be interesting. If you want to join the conversation join the club, link inside the bio. #rtbbookclub

So I got this idea. Let's read the Bible 30 minutes a day for 30 days starting April 1, 2022.

I know we all have a lot of things to do, but hear me out, putting God first is essential, and when we learn how to give Him some of our time every day; it will change our lives.

Plus, think about how many hours you can spend doing something that won't benefit you; this is only 30 minutes for 30 days.

Here's how it goes...

📖 Pray and ask God if this is a good challenge for you at this time.

📖 Plan out the best time to read/study your Bible for 30 minutes uninterrupted. If you can get up earlier, it helps to allow this time to be the first thing you do before the day gets away from you.

📖 Get the Bible you want to use and any other study tools you think you want, like a notebook, pen, highlighters, dictionary, apps.

📖 Find your one spot that you can go to every day and leave your study tools there so that you don't have to look for things before getting started.

📖 Plan what topics you want to focus on for these 30 days so that you won't spend most of your time figuring out what to study during your study time.

📖 Every time you study, pray before and ask God to help you get insight.

📖. If you think 30 minutes is not a challenge, good, add 30 minutes to what you already do in a day.

📖. Every day you complete your study, no matter what time of the day it is, as long as you get it in, share whatever you want from that day's experience with the #RTB30

📖. Share this with a friend or two or three.

I should be in dream land right now, but I can’t. I’m like that little girl in the picture, bright eyed and excited after having conversation about God with my RTB community. It all was so much it had me thinking. And I realized that all this was in His plan. I just had to say yes, put Him first, and He did the rest. I didn’t have to force my way into purpose, I walked into it without knowing it. #rtbproject

Here’s to the little me, who didn’t quite understand God and all He wanted for me.

You’re maturing in Him, keep going. Be encouraged and continue to encourage others to find their identity in Christ.

He has big plans for you, so just keep saying yes and keep Him as the focus.

We know that it is difficult to please God without faith. But sometimes, having confidence in what you can't see is not easy. So, I want to remind you that you are doing a good job every morning that you wake up and choose God. He desires you too. But if you need more encouragement, write down those magical moments with Him and read them often.

So today God had me do something for someone. As I was doing it, I found joy in knowing it was going to bless them.

Right in the midst of my obedience my car was hit. The mirror was knocked off. I was feeling a way about it, besides the frustration that comes when someone hits your car, I started to wonder how was I going complete the assignment.

Fear of driving without my side view mirror crept in, and I considered just going home. But something in my gut said this was distraction, someone is waiting on me to do what God told me to do. So I prayed for traveling mercies and kept going.

I don’t know who need to hear this, but just because you hit some difficulties on your way to doing what God gave you does not mean that you should not do it. In fact it means to hard. Remember someone is waiting on you.

And it comes on the day when you’re to do some work for God. So think about that for a second. Today I received the sweetest text from one of my sisters. She asked me if I had a prayer request because she was about to go and pray. I am still thinking about that text. It warms my heart that God sent me the right friends when I asked him for them.

Sometimes life happens and it will leave us hurt, broken, misunderstood, confused, and in our feelings questioning God-like, why? And even if we try to understand we can't all the time. But our hope is in the fact that God knows us and loves us.

I want to encourage you, even to challenge you to pray more this week then you usually do. So if you get on your knees and pray once a day make it twice. If twice, well you know where this is going. Let us pray 🙏🏾 Someone is looking for answers to hard questions. Someone is in need of a miracle. Someone need strength as times just got hard for them.
